These charts are sold as engineered sealed documents and meet the requirements of the 2020 Florida Building Code (FBC) & 2018/ 2021 IBC using 'ASD Method' per ASCE 7-10 & ASCE 7-16 for the determination of required wind pressures for Components and Cladding. The FBC allows sealed versions of these master plans to be used to submit for a window, door, or shutter with certain limitations as one of three approved methods. These charts are applicable only to 1 or 2 residential family dwellings - not for apartments.

SUGGESTED WIND VELOCITY & EXPOSURE CATEGORY REQUIREMENTS (Confirm with the permitting building department before use or visit the ATC Wind site):

For residential structures ('Risk Category II') in Broward and Palm Beach Counties, the required wind velocity is 170mph.

For residential structures ('Risk Category II') in Miami-Dade County, the required wind velocity is 175mph. If you are near the coast, it's Exposure Category 'D'; inland is Exposure Category 'C' Click here to learn more about Exposure categories

This master plan provides ASCE 7-16 wind pressure values for a variety of open & host enclosed patio, pergola, canopy & sunroom conditions, wind speeds, and exposures.
The intent of this plan is to be used in conjunction with certified roof and wall patio component performance tables that list only pressures to provide a complete package for permit and provide necessary wind speed & exposure requirements. These charts are valid up to a 20psf live/snow & 2psf dead load. More information can be found within the master plan.
