Authority Per 61G20-3 (formerly 9N-3) & Florida Local Approval Statute: FS 553.8425 For Local Product Approval:

Products or systems of construction shall demonstrate compliance with the structural windload requirements of the Florida Building Code Through (1) a Certification Mark, Listing, or Label, (2) a Test Report, (3) A Product Evaluation Report from an approved entity, engineer or architect, or (4) a Statewide Product Approval (which only permits 6 building product categories of the building envelope vs 20+ for Local Approvals). Local Approvals must be valid until such time as the product changes, the standards change, or the approval is otherwise suspended or revoked (so they can be used over and over again just like a Statewide approval).

FS 553.8425(3)

Local building officials may accept modifications to approved products or their installations if sufficient evidence is submitted to the local building official to demonstrate compliance with the code or the intent of the code, including such evidence as certifications from a Florida Registered Architect or Florida Professional Engineer.
